I’ve never cold called people or knocked on doors to drum up business. Some people do so and like it – but it was never for me. Don’t think that you have to do this.

There are plenty of positions out there where the company generates the leads for you. Seek them out if you do not like the idea of doing the lead generation.

As an in-home consultant, I have met the most interesting people, some of them famous, with interesting occupations and life stories. And, I have seen and been in some of the most beautiful homes and buildings in the world.

Also, there is no sex or age discrimination in in-home consulting. I have worked with men and women in their sixties and seventies who are still sharp and going strong. You can start at any age, no matter what your current background. I started in my twenties and I’m now in my fifties. The older you get, the easier it becomes because you understand the process and  become more proficient.

In-home consulting offers personal freedom. If you want to stop for a cup of coffee, you do so. Most weeks, I have worked 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. I go through my day with no one looking over my shoulder and telling me every move to make.

While I may be in the office for a while, I am not stuck at a desk all day I make my own schedule, I am my own boss, and most of the time I do what I want to do when I want to do it.

Even if you are working for an employer, as an in-home consultant you are really an independent agent. Most employers do not care what you do, and will not micromanage you, as long as you produce.

Being an in-home consultant is a great career. In addition to exceptional income, most opportunities offer a lot of other perks and rewards, such as bonuses, SPIFF programs, contests, trips, paid health insurance, paid vacations, and a company vehicle with fuel, maintenance and insurance.

The skills that you acquire in one industry, can easily be implemented in other fields. Because the skills are adaptable, I have successfully changed industries at numerous times throughout my in-home consulting career.

Recently, even during one of the worst economic periods of the past 50 years, by using this system one of my clients increased their sales by 27%.

In over 30 years of in-home consulting I made no less than $50,000 a year to over $400,000 a year.

Most people earn a lot less than this, even with an extensive and expensive education.
